Anyone remember the KDWB Orange Crush Conversion van? It was seen around the Twin Cities all summer, handing out albums, t-shirts, concert tickets, and money. At the end of the summer of 1976, the van was given away to a lucky winner!
This tape was given to me by Curt Lundgren back in 1999. Like me, Curt is a true radio geek with a keen ear for audio perfection. The quality of this recording is excellent. Remember, KDWB was still AM only (630 Khz) at this time. The FM simulcast did not begin until September 16th of that year. Jeff McKee produced this promo. He also held down the noon-3PM airshift.

Very cool – KDWB-AM was my “first” radio station – my mother gave me a transistor radio for Easter 1976 (my first radio), and I instantly found 630 AM. The first song I heard on the station was “Silly Love Songs” – and whenever my radio was on that summer, it was on KDWB. I’ve been waiting for years to rehear those DJs of my youth. Thanks!
